Hello Trojan family. I am a dedicated educator with experience teaching across all social studies content areas. My classroom focuses on student-driven learning, high academic rigor and expectations, and thoughtful intellectual challenge. My goal is to help students develop the historical reasoning, civic literacy, and academic stamina they will need to succeed in college and/or in their chosen professions. 

I hold undergraduate (Winthrop) and graduate degrees (University of South Carolina). I genuinely work to refine my teaching so students can receive a deeper understanding of the content I teach. I want my students to have an experience in my class that stays with them long after they graduate.   

Outside the classroom you will find me outdoors. I am a whitewater boater, canoer, camper, hiker, and gardener and I bring that love of adventure to my teaching. I am also a husband, a dad, a grandpa, and a brother…but, most of all, I am a teacher. Teaching is more than a profession to me; it is my identity. If you ask me “What are you?”, I will say… “A teacher.”
