Nicholas SHumate

Nicholas Todd Shumate is in his 12th year as a High School Choral Music Educator. He serves as the Choral Director at Northwestern High School in Rock Hill, SC. Previously he was the Choral Director at Chapin High School in Chapin, SC. 

Mr. Shumate has also worked in Church Music Ministry for the past 15 years and is on staff at The Lutheran Church of The Redeemer in Newberry, SC, as the Choir/Handbell Director. 

Mr. Shumate finished a Masters of Music in Choral Conducting at Winthrop University, in Rock Hill, South Carolina, in 2014. In 2011, Mr. Shumate received a Bachelors of Arts in Music Education, concentration in Choral/Vocal Music Education, from Limestone College, Gaffney, South Carolina. 

Mr. Shumate is a member of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), National Association of Music Education (NAfME), National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), and American Guild of Organist (AGO). Mr. Shumate is also a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia inducted in 2012. 

For the past 12 years, Mr. Shumate has served on the SC ACDA Board in various positions and currently is the High School Honor Choir Coordinator serving alongside with Sarah Elizabeth High. Mr. Shumate also is the Committee Chairperson for the SC MEA Choral Division High School Region Choir and has served on that committee for the past 12 years.
